Jackson area volleyball, girls soccer rankings

A look at the top high school volleyball and girls soccer teams in West Tennessee, as ranked by the USA Today Sports network. Teams eligible come from The Jackson Sun’s 13-county coverage area – Madison, Gibson, Henderson, Chester, Hardeman, Haywood, Crockett, Weakley, Carroll, Benton, Decatur, McNairy and Hardin counties.

VOLLEYBALL

1. Camden (9-1) – The Lady Lions have taken over the No. 1 spot in District 11-AA after a 3-0 win over Creek Wood. Last week: No. 1.

2. Lexington (12-0) – If anyone had questions, the Lady Tigers showed that they are focused on winning a district title for the first time since 2008. Last week: No. 6.

3. TCA (10-1) – The Lions suffered their first loss of the season in the championship game of the Freed-Hardeman Tournament. Last week: No. 2.

4. Crockett County (9-3) – The Lady Cavaliers won nine of 10 sets played last week, but Tuesday’s match against Dyersburg will be key in deciding the District 14-AA No. 1 seed. Last week: No. 4.

5. South Side (9-2) – The Lady Hawks took their second loss of the season in the Freed-Hardeman Tournament. Last week: No. 3.

6. Chester County (8-2) – The Eaglettes lost in the semifinals of the Freed-Hardeman Tournament to eventual champion Lexington. Last week: No. 5.

7. McNairy Central (4-1) – The Lady Bobcats suffered their first loss of the season, against Chester County, but bounced back against Bolivar. Last week: No. 7.

8. Milan (5-6) – The Lady Bulldogs bounced back from a slow start to sweep two District 14-AA series before going 2-2 in the Freed-Hardeman Tournament. Last week: Not ranked.

Dropped out: USJ (1-3).

GIRLS SOCCER

1. South Gibson (4-0) – The Lady Hornets won the Gibson County Soccer Tournament, outscoring opponents 32-1. Last week: No. 1.

2. USJ (3-1) – The Lady Bruins bounced back from their first loss with two straight wins over Tipton-Rosemark and Franklin Road Academy. Last week: No. 2.

3. Chester County (3-1) – The Eaglettes are on a three-game winning streak and have outscored two District 13-AA opponents 14-0. Last week: No. 3.

4. Madison (1-1) – The Lady Mustangs bounced back with a 9-0 win over Westview to even out their record. Last week: No. 4.

5. Jackson Christian (2-3) – The Lady Eagles went 1-2 in the Smoky Mountain Cup over the weekend and are 1-1 in district play. Last week: No. 5.

6. Adamsville (2-1) – After falling to Chester County, the Lady Cardinals opened District 11-A play with a 2-1 win over Scotts Hill. Last week: No. 7.

7. TCA (2-1) – The Lady Lions opened the season with two 2-0 victories over McKenzie and Lexington. Last week: Not ranked.

8. Lexington (3-1) – The Lady Tigers won three of their first four matches, but this week will be key to their District 13-AA standings. Last week: No. 8.

Dropped out: McNairy Central (2-1).
