TCA re-enters Jackson area high school football Dirty Dozen after Week 3
A look at the top high school football teams in West Tennessee, as ranked by the USA TODAY Sports network. Teams eligible come from The Jackson Sun’s 13-county coverage area – Madison, Gibson, Henderson, Chester, Hardeman, Haywood, Crockett, Weakley, Carroll, Benton, Decatur, McNairy and Hardin counties.
1. Haywood (2-1) – The Tomcats have used their speed to win two straight games, but now they play a Briarcrest team that beat them by one point last season. Last week: No. 1. This week: Briarcrest.

2. Peabody (3-0) – The Golden Tide used 349 yards of total offense to knock off the defending Class 1A state champions Union City. Last week: No. 2. This week: vs. Humboldt.

3. Huntingdon (3-0) – The Mustangs had little trouble opening Region 6-1A play with a win, but now they play a rival. Last week: No. 3. This week: vs. Camden.
4. Riverside (2-0) – The Panthers had a week off. They have held their first two opponents to a total of seven points. Last week: No. 5. This week: vs. Wayne County.
5. Dresden (3-0) – The Lions didn’t listen to all the hype around Lake County and put 60 points on them to start 7-1A play 1-0. Last week: No. 6. This week: vs. West Carroll.
6. South Side (3-0) – Eric Latham has rushed for 556 yards in three games to show the Hawks are ready to back up last year’s semifinal run. Last week: No. 7. This week: at Obion County.
7. Crockett County (3-0) – The Cavaliers pulled away from Ripley to open Region 7-4A play 1-0, but now they have a road trip against an improving South Gibson team. Last week: No. 10. This week: at South Gibson.

8. Milan (2-1) – The Bulldogs didn’t allow the loss to Peabody to hang around long as they scored 60 points to beat Westview in Region 7-3A play.. Last week: No. 12. This week: at North Side.
9. TCA (2-1) – The Lions went from giving up 400 yards in Week 2 to holding Adamsville to 96 yards in Week 3. Last week: Not ranked. This week: vs. USJ.

10. Adamsville (2-1) – The Cardinals struggled offensively in taking their first loss on the season, but they will try to bounce back against a rival. Last week: No. 4. This week: vs. Hardin County.
11. Hardin County (2-1) – The Tigers had a 14-0 lead in the third quarter but lost to North Side 34-21. Last week: No. 8. This week: at Adamsville.
12. Lexington (2-1) – The Tigers’ defense helped Lexington open Region 6-4A play with a 10-6 win over Liberty. Last week: No. 9. This week: vs. Trezevant.
