Cheatham County was the lone team to finish Week 8 with a victory, defeating Greenbrier 21-19.

Sycamore suffered a 32-7 loss to Creek Wood. Harpeth failed to score against Fairview, falling 56-0.

Here are three takeaways from Week 8 of the regular season.

Cheatham County's Jax Stone (23) is tackled by Reagan Conquest (48) during their game with Greenbrier on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018.

Cheatham County wins close one

Cheatham County improved to 3-5 with a thrilling 21-19 road win over Greenbrier. Bryson Entrikin had a 1-yard touchdown in the second quarter to tie the game at 7. Walker Bunce ended the first half with a 4-yard rushing touchdown of his own and the Cubs went into halftime with a 13-7 lead.

Greenbrier's Micah Escue tied the game at 13 with a 1-yard rushing touchdown to end the third quarter, and the Bobcats attempted a two-point conversion but failed to convert.

Perhaps the play of the game occurred in the fourth quarter when Cheatham County's Damien Pera rushed 55 yards for a touchdown. Bunce's 2-yard rush gave the Cubs the two-point conversion, which gave them a 21-13 lead.

Greenbrier's Reagan Conquest gave his team hope late in the game when he rushed 38 yards, but the Bobcats failed to convert on another two-point conversion.

"We got a big win on Friday," Cheatham County coach Eric Hatley said. "I'm proud of the effort we played with. I feel like our guys played more physical than we did the previous week."

Sycamore loses to Creek Wood

Sycamore is on a three-game losing streak after a 32-7 loss to Creek Wood. Senior quarterback Trevor Gagnon was 3-for-6 passing, throwing for only 63 yards and one touchdown. He also threw two interceptions.

"We were out played and physically dominated," Sycamore coach Justin Robison said. "It was not our best performance. Creek Wood is a good team, but we made too many mistakes and had way too many penalties against a quality opponent."

The War Eagles head into the bye week with a record of 3-5.

"We will work on tackling, and overcoming adversity during the break," Robison said. "We have been out played for three weeks in a row now due to discipline and poor performances."

Harpeth gets shut out

After a win against Stewart County, Harpeth found itself on the losing end again as the Indians failed to score, 56-0, against Fairview.

This is the third time this season that Harpeth has been shut out. With the loss, the Indians fall to 1-7 on the season.

"Fairview is the best team we've played this season, and we compounded matters by turning the ball over," Harpeth coach Doug Loope said. "We want to get our players healthy for the last couple of games and try to finish on a good note."

After this week's bye, Harpeth hosts Fayetteville on Oct. 19.
