JONESBOROUGH, Tenn -- David Crockett senior cross country and track runner Taylor Roy became the second member of her family to sign with UT-Margin after inking scholarship papers earlier this week.

After initially considering King University, Roy will rejoin sister Breanna, who is currently in her freshman season at UT-Martin.

Roy is a four-year state cross country qualifier and helped lead the Lady Pioneers to their first state track and field berth since 1982 last spring, where they finished eighth in the state.

Roy logged top ten finishes in the both the conference and regional cross country meets all four years of her career.

At the Big 7/11 Conference Championships, Roy finished sixth, fourth, fourth and was runner-up this season. Finishes of tenth, ninth, eighth and fourth came in the Region 1-AAA Championships.

As a senior this year, Roy won individual titles at the Run For the Hills Meet and the Bristol Cross.

As the state meet, Roy finished 23rd as an individual in the large school division, just behind her 19th as a sophomore in the Class AAA division.

Between cross country and track seasons, Roy can be found on the mats, where she’s the state’s top-ranked wrestler in her weight class
