Memphis high school football rankings heading into TSSAA state championships

Horn Lake (14-0): Horn Lake claimed the Mississippi 6A North title with a 16-7 win over Madison Central on a go-ahead 80 yard touchdown pass from Raydarious Jones to Octavius Williams with 30 seconds to go. Next, the Eagles play for a state championship in Hattiesburg. Last week: No. 1. This week: Friday vs. Oak Grove.

2. MUS (11-0): MUS was idle last week after a 10-7 semifinal win over McCallie. Owls senior cornerback Maurice Hampton won the Division II-AAA Mr. Football award on Sunday. Last week: No. 2. This week: Friday vs. Brentwood Academy.

3. Lausanne (11-1): Eric Gray became the first player in TSSAA history to win three straight Mr. Football awards on Sunday. The Lynx have won 38 of their past 39 games. Last week: No. 4. This week: Season complete.

4. Whitehaven (11-3): Whitehaven trailed by two touchdowns at the half but scored 33 unanswered second-half points to beat Ravenwood 43-24. Running back Cameron Sneed scored three touchdowns. Last week: No. 5. This week: Thursday vs. Oakland.

 

5. Olive Branch (12-2): Olive Branch was shut out 35-0 by West Point in the Mississippi 5A North final. Last week: No. 3. This week: Season complete.

7. Covington (14-0): Covington pulled off a 20-14 overtime win against Stratford in the 3A semifinals Friday night. Next comes a rematch of last year's state championship game against Alcoa. Last week: No. 7. This week: Saturday vs. Alcoa.

8. Kirby (11-2): The Cougars finished with the top offense and defense in 8-5A in terms of points scored and points allowed. Last week: No. 8. This week: Season complete.

9. Houston (10-2): The Mustangs put together a solid season, losing only to Germantown and WhitehavenLast week: No. 9. This week: Season complete.

10. Fayette Academy (10-2): Rube Scott Rhea was a finalist for the DII-A Mr. Football award. Last week: No. 10. This week: Season complete.
