Cyclones bounce back with win over Meigs Co.

The Elizabethton boys basketball bounced back quickly on Saturday.

The Cyclones rolled to a 67-38 victory over Meigs County in the Roundball Classic at Science Hill – just 15 hours after suffering their first loss of the season.

EHS set the tone early.

Evan Perkins scored eight first-quarter points, while Braden Phillips added six more to push the Cyclones to a 20-7 advantage at the end of the frame. Elizabethton maintained the lead to take a 32-17 lead into the half.

Nico Ashley and the Cyclones continued to hold the Tigers at bay in the second half. Ashley scored six points in the stanza as EHS added five points to their lead in the third. In the final quarter, Perkins scored 10 points as Elizabethton left no doubt – holding Meigs County to just eight points in the frame.

Perkins finished with a game-high 18 points, while Phillips had 12 points – all of which came on 3-point shots. Ashley added eight points, while Eric Wilson scored seven points. Jake Roberts added a pair of 3-pointers for the EHS cause.

Caleb Newman led Meigs County with 11 points.
