Northeast's Rachel Lopes, West Creek guard earn athlete of week honors

More than 23,000 people made their choice for the male athlete of the week in Clarksville for Dec. 3-8. in one of the largest vote totals since the poll has began.

Another 7,400-plus people voted for the female athlete of the week.

West Creek's Montre Boddie (3) tires to avoid the middle of Rossview's defense during their District 10 basketball game Tuesday.

For the boys vote, it was West Creek's Montre Boddie who captured the top prize after narrowly beating out Northwest's Isaiah Farrior. Boddie finished with 49.5 percent of the votes (11,808 total) while Farrior finished with 48.3 percent (11,536 votes).

The girls poll was equally as close as Northeast High's Rachel Lopes captured the top spot after earning 50.9 percent of the vote (3,795 total) while Rossview's Kayla Gilmore finished a close second with 47.8 percent (3,562 total).
