Commercial Appeal All-Metro girls soccer team for 2018

FIRST TEAM

The first eight players on the Commercial Appeal All-Metro girls soccer team are nominees for girls soccer player of the year. The winner will be announced May 17 at the third annual Commercial Appeal Sports Awards presented by Farm Bureau Health Plans.

Madeline Eskin is a junior at Houston High School.

Position: Forward

Why chosen: The junior forward helped lead the Mustangs to a Class AAA title with 19 goals and 10 assists. 

Jenna Kemp is a senior at Houston High School.

Position: Midfielder

Why chosen: The Ole Miss commitment and 2018 Gatorade soccer player of the year for Tennessee led the Mustangs to their third AAA state title in four years. Kemp scored 16 goals and had 20 assists. 

Madison Luttrell is a senior at Covington High School.

Why chosen: Luttrell scored 67 goals, leading the Chargers to a Class AA state quarterfinal appearance.

Why chosen: Mercer scored 30 goals for the Cougars and won MVP of the SCIAA championships with five goals in the Class A/AA championship game.

Position: Midfielder

Why chosen: The all-region and THSSCA all-state selection scored four goals and had four assists. She is a Chattanooga signee. 

Emily Samisch is a senior at Collierville High School.

Position: Goalkeeper

Why chosen: Samisch posted 14 shutouts for Class AAA runner-up Collierville. 

Elizabeth Slavinsky is a senior at Collierville High School.

Why chosen: The Middle Tennessee State signee scored 28 goals and dished out 10 assists for the Dragons. 

Cara Young is a senior at Houston High School.

Why chosen: The Arkansas signee posted 14 goals with 20 assists. She scored the go-ahead goal in the Class AAA semifinals and the only goal in the win over Collierville in the state championship game.

Why chosen: Wolff led Houston (21-2) to a 1-0 victory over Collierville in the AAA state title game. It was Houston's third state championship in four years.
