Oakland's Malik Sibert (11), head coach Kevin Creasy and Christian Cantrell (21) celebrate as the school holds a pep rally, on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 at the school after the football team won the 6A State Championship BlueCross Bowl game against Westhaven on Thursday.

Many teams lose in a single season the number of games Kevin Creasy has lost combined during his four years at the helm of the Oakland football program.

Creasy accomplished about everything he could have hoped for in 2018.

His team went 14-1 and captured the school's first state title since 2008. He was named Tennessee Titans coach of the year for Tennessee.

He is also The Daily News Journal's coach of the year on the 2018 all-area football team.

Creasy's Patriots have gone 53-5 in his four years, guiding Oakland to at least a state semifinals berth in each of those seasons.

He won his fourth state title overall (the previous three coming at Trousdale County) with Oakland's 37-0 BlueCross Bowl win over Whitehaven.

If you want to know just how dominant a year it was for Creasy and the Patriots, ponder these numbers:

• Oakland outscored its opponents 637-88.

• During the playoffs, the Patriots outscored their foes 166-17.

• In the two biggest games of the season, Oakland thumped state powers Maryville 38-0 and Whitehaven 37-0.

Creasy has taken two Oakland teams to the BlueCross Bowl in his four years at the school.

He will take a 132-17 career record into his fifth season at Oakland next year.
