When you account for 54 goals in just 23 games, it's safe to say it's been an outstanding soccer season.

Such was the case for Stewarts Creek sophomore forward Delaney Mitchell.

Mitchell scored 40 goals while also managing to dish out 14 assists in leading the Lady Red Hawks to their first Class AAA state tournament appearance.

Her efforts have earned her the award as Daily News Journal all-area girls soccer player of the year for 2018.
