With the first round of the Division I region tournaments in the books and the Division II semifinal matchups nearly set, lets take a look at five key things that happened over the weekend. 

DII-AA: Briarcrest clinches second straight state semifinal berth

Led by 24 points from Marcellus Brigham, Briarcrest beat MBA 70-36 on Saturday night to earn a spot in the DII-AA state semifinals. Last year, the Saints lost in the semifinals by one point to Baylor. This year's Baylor team knocked out Christian Brothers on Saturday to clinch its semifinal berth. 

St. Agnes and Briarcrest were eliminated in the girls' quarterfinal. Top-seeded Hutchinson was set to face Pope John Paul II at 4 p.m. Sunday.

DII-A: Northpoint, Harding girls advance to Murfreesboro

Northpoint Christian advanced to its seventh straight semifinal appearance with a 49-31 win over Christ Presbyterian Academy, and Harding Academy posted a 53-49 win over Clarksville Academy. 

Tipton-Rosemark will take on Goodpasture on Monday for a trip to the boys semifinals.

AAA: Bartlett, East roll to victories

James Wiseman poured in 25 points, leading East to a 69-46 win over Ridgeway. Tuesday night will be a battle of the Mustangs as East takes on Houston. Southwind beat White Station, which makes Whitehaven the only team left that has beaten East this season. 

Bartlett blew out Liberty Magnet 89-43, setting up a Tuesday night matchup with Dyer County, which beat Cordova 69-67. 

The Houston Lady Mustangs defeated East behind 28 points from Miss Basketball finalist Jayla Hemingway. Next up is a second-round rematch with Central. Houston escaped with a 67-64 in last year's matchup. 

AA: Raleigh Egypt game suspended

Raleigh-Egypt's matchup with Fayette-Ware was stopped in the second quarter because of hazardous floor conditions. The game will resume at 7 p.m. Monday night at Raleigh Egypt with Fayette-Ware leading 20-19. The winner is scheduled to play Mitchell at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Ripley. The winner of Wooddale and Covington will play at 6 p.m.

A: Middle College upsets City University

Middle College (10-12) upset district 16A champ City University on Saturday. The Bulldogs will take on the winner of MAHS and Hillcrest. Manassas cruised to a 114-79 victory over Oakhaven,
