CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) The Clarksville Academy Varsity Girls Basketball Team has been named this week’s ESPN Clarksville & Culver’s High School Athlete of the Week.

The Cougars won the district championship to advance to the state tournament but fell short in the quarterfinal game.

Head Coach Carrie Daniels said it has been an exciting year for the young ladies.

“So many firsts that they have earned throughout the year with their hard work and just staying true to what our goal was,” Daniels said. “Getting to the state tournament and playing in that first round game was monumental for this program and then going in and winning the game, it was unbelievable to see these young girl’s faces light up.”

“I truly believe the positions that we’ve been in, the experiences that we’ve had this season will only make us stronger in the years to come,” she continued.
