Baseball teams usually don’t leave the field with the game tied, but that was the case Monday night as Stone Memorial’s contest at Bledsoe County was called in the seventh inning due to field conditions, tied 1-1.

A small fire in an electrical box connected to the field lights and scoreboard left the field lighting unable to turn on, resulting in the field being too dark after sunset.

Before the contest was called, Stone Memorial and Bledsoe County were locked in a 1-1 duel in which SMHS pitcher Jordan Pelfrey had given up one run in six innings pitched while recording three strikeouts.

Alex Sixkiller drove in Stone Memorial’s lone run in the top of the fourth inning via a single to right field, scoring Christian Carlton.

The game will eventually have a winner, however, as the rest of the contest will be played Tuesday night when Bledsoe County travels to Stone Memorial.

Results of that contest, as well as the full game scheduled for Tuesday, will be in Friday’s Crossville Chronicle.
