SPARTANBURG, S.C. --- The Southern Conference released its first outdoor installment of track and field Athletes of the Week, naming ETSU’s Noah Charles (Johnson City) as one of its recipients Wednesday afternoon.

Charles earned his first career weekly honor following a win in the 3K steeplechase in the Queen City. The junior who prepped locally at Science Hill High School broke the tape with a time of 9:06.20, edging the second place runner by .31 seconds.

The steeplechase win is the first of Charles’ career, as he placed third in the 49er Classic last year. His personal best stands from last season at 8:59.18 — a time he hopes to beat this season. Last week's time ranks ninth on the NCAA national performance list.

Charles and the Bucs are back in action this weekend, March 22-23, at the Vertklasse Meeting. The meet is hosted by High Point University in High Point, N.C.
