Baylor, CCS, East Ridge Score Soccer Wins

The Baylor boys soccer team earned a 3-1 win over Coahulla Creek in a non-region match on Thursday.  

At the 22nd minute, Franciso Medina of Coahula Creek scored off a shot from about 25 yards out to put them up 1-0.

At the 33rd minute, Kevin Ho (Baylor) scored off a pass from Ethan Nunes to tie it 1-1.

It was 1-1 at halftime.

At the 72nd minute, David Danquah (Baylor) scored off a pass from Carter Smith.

At the 75th minute, John Musick scored  to give Baylor a 3-1 lead. 
 
"I give Coahulla Creek a lot of credit for their attacking three up top.," Baylor head coach Curtis Blair said.  "They have three very dangerous players and we knew we were going to have a long day trying to defend those three. We started the game very slowly and started to pick up the tempo as the game went along. We didn’t do a good job of keep possession of the ball in the first half and made this game very difficult for us."

Baylor out shot the visitors 11-4. 

Charlie Hooks had three saves for Baylor. 

Baylor improves to  5-2.

Also on Thursday, CCS won their first district game of the year, beating Silverdale 5-1. 

Nicko Bellot and Erick Manirakiza both had two goals.  Jack McClearn also had a goal. 

Banks Halverson and Jack McClearn had assists. CCS keeper Eli Honeycutt had three saves for CCS.   

CCS hosts Briarwood (AL) on Friday at 6 p.m. 

East Ridge topped Hixson, 2-0, in a A/AA District 8 regular season match. East Ridge led 1-0 at the half.

Pioneer goals were by Zhubin Salih and Luis Diaz Velasquez. Assists were from Daniel Bautista Tercero.
 
East Ridge goalkeeper Tranquillino Calel Tzun had three saves during the shutout.
 
East Ridge improves to Overall Record: 4-4, A-AA District 8: 2-1.
 
The Pioneers will be at Grace on Saturday at 7 p.m.
