St. Benedict named Will Hudgens as its athletic director Friday morning according to a press release. He takes over for Caleb Marcum who served as the school's athletic director for 10 years.

"Not only does he (Hudgens) have a superior work ethic, he is familiar with the Memphis high school sports scene and is well-respected among his peers," said principal Sondra Morris. "We look forward to a great working relationship and with the continuation of the system and vision set in place by Coach Marcum."

Hudgens' role before Friday's promotion was offensive coordinator of the football team and head coach of the track team at St. Benedict. He is stepping away from coaching to work in his new administrative role full time.

Head baseball coach Brandon Patton will move up to assistant athletic director.

Heudgens helped guide the school through the hiring of its latest head football coach, Marlon Walls. SBA is currently looking for a head volleyball coach as well.

Hudgens was previously the head football coach at Houston, where he went 29-26 over five seasons. He is an alum of Ridgeway High School and University of Memphis.
