Lady ‘Toppers Ride Three-Homer Inning to Big Win at Cherokee

ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. -- Riding a three home-run outburst in a five-run second inning, Science Hill thumped Cherokee, 19-3, in a Big 7 Conference Softball contest Thursday afternoon.
Trailing 3-2 after one inning, Jayden Salts stroked a game-tying one-out homer. After Kasey Bennett walked, Jannon Glaspie clubbed a two-shot to right field to pu the Lady ‘Toppers ahead, 5-3.
The next hitter, Abigail Taylor doubled and scored a batter later on Sejal Neas’ two-run connection.
Glaspie finished 2-for-4 on the day with a walk, two runs scored and five RBI’s. Taylor ended up 3-for-5 with two doubles, a single, a walk, three runs scored and two run driven in.
Neas went 2-for-3 with a walk, one run scored and three RBI’s while Salts was 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three runs driven in.
Bennett reached four times on a double and three walks and scored four times. Makenzie Smith crossed twice and drove in one.
Madison Carpenter’s two-run home gave Cherokee a short-live 3-2 advantage after one inning. Paisley Lyons finished 2-for-3 for the Lady Chiefs.
Neas worked a 111-pitch complete game in the circle for the Lady ‘Toppers. Neas whiffed ten, walked none, allowed five hits, and two earned runs.
