Sullivan South 8, Elizabethton 1 (softball)
The Lady Cyclones were unable to catch up to the Lady Rebels on Thursday evening.
After Maddie O’Quinn scored off a Lady Rebel error in to the top of the first, South scored three runs in the home side of the frame to take the lead. The Rebels slowly pulled away over the rest of the game.
Marley Wagner led EHS at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance. Kallista Deprimo, Kaylen Shell, Kira Dillard and Maggie Johnson each had a hit.
Happy Valley 5, Unaka 1 (baseball)
The Warriors used a three-run fourth inning to take a nonconference victory on Thursday on Stoney Creek.
Unaka took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when John Ramsey hit a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Devon Ramsey to score. The Warriors answered in the top of the second as Eli Ayers scored off a walk and then Hunter Smith scored off a Caden Ward sacrifice fly.
Happy Valley took control for good in the fourth as Eli Reece scored off a balk and then Charlie Smith and Jacob Absher scored off a Dylan Willis double.
Bryce Carter, Zac Workman and Willis each had a hit for Happy Valley, while the Rangers countered with a hit apiece from Bryson Street, Davy Ensor and D. Ramsey.
For the Warriors, Carter got the win on the mound as he allowed just one earned run on three hits, while Bryson Street allowed five earned runs on just three hits with seven strikeouts.
Unaka 9, North Greene 4 (softball)
The Lady Rangers’ bats came alive late to power the way to a key District 1-A win.
After the game entered the fifth inning with NG holding a 1-0 lead, the Lady Rangers plated five runs in the top of the fifth and four more in the seventh to leave no doubt.
Sadie Shoun and Lilie Kisser had three hits apiece with Kiser recording a team high four RBIs. Erika Potter added three RBIs for the Lady Rangers.
In the circle, Shoun picked up the win as she allowed just one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts.
Unicoi County 12, Happy Valley 0 (softball)
The Lady Warriors were unable to keep pace with the hot Unicoi bats on Thursday.
Laura Rice and Abbey Holt were 1-for-3 for the Lady Warriors.
