Softball: Soddy-Daisy's Hot Bats Scorch Lady Cherokees, 15-0

Soddy-Daisy’s hot bats didn’t cool off on Tuesday.

The Lady Trojans (23-8, 10-1) blasted 18 hits and scored 10 sixth-inning runs and routed the Lady Cherokees, 15-0, behind a four-hit shutout by Emily Higgins.

On Monday, the Lady Trojans mauled Bradley Central, 18-1, and banged out 18 hits.

Several players had big offensive performances for Soddy-Daisy.

Baylie Davis went 4 for 4 and belted a grand slam in the big sixth inning. She also scored twice. Higgins was 2 for 3 with three RBIs and scored two runs. Courtney Sneed went 4 for 4, drove in a run and scored three times. Javaria Smith and Hope Ingle each collected two hits.

In the sixth, Stephanie Blevins stroked a two-run double; Laci Mercer had an RBI single, Ingle delivered a run-scoring single, Davis crushed a grand slam and Mercer came back with a sacrifice fly.

Higgins threw a complete game and gave up four hits and struck out seven.

Ashley Baxter had two hits for the Lady Cherokees.
