Sullivan Central 9, Elizabethton 7 (softball)
Elizabethton fell in heartbreaking fashion on Thursday.
After the Lady Cyclones had stormed to a 7-6 lead going to the final inning, Sullivan East took the win on a walkoff double.
Maddie O’Quinn, Kira Dillard, Mollie Guinn, Hannah Edwards and Autumn Hensley had two hits apiece, while Hensley had three RBIs. Kaylen Shell also added a hit to the EHS cause.
Cloudland 6, Guerin Prep (IL) 4 (softball)
Brecksville (OH) 15, Cloudland 0
Cloudland split a pair of games on the second day of the Grand Strand Classic in North Myrtle Beach.
In the opening game against Guerin Prep, CHS jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning and used two more runs in the third to pull away.
Taylor Hicks and Jasmine Birchfield tallied two hits apiece, while Krisi Bare, Karah Fields and Kaylen Fields each added a hit for the Lady ‘Landers.
Kenzie Birchfield pitched for the win.
In the second game, CHS was unable to overcome a slow start as Brecksville jumped out early and never looked back.
Leah Birchfield and J. Birchfield had a hit a piece for Cloudland.
Bamberg-Ehrhardt 7, Unaka 6 (softball)
South County 12, Unaka 2
The Lady Rangers dropped a pair of tough games on Thursday at the Grand Strand Classic in North Myrtle Beach.
In the first game of the day, Unaka took a 6-3 lead after three and a half innings, but Bamberg-Ehrhardt scored four unanswered runs in the final three innings to take the win.
Sadie Shoun and Erika Potter had two hits a piece, while Madison Pierce, Lilie Kiser, Kendall Bare and Kiki Forney had a hit a piece.
In the second game of the day against South County, Unaka was unable to get anything going early on. The Lady Rangers plated two runs in the top of the fifth, but were unable to catch up with South County.
Taylor Shanks, Bare, Potter and Pierce each had a hit for the Lady Rangers.
Jefferson County 7, Elizabethton 6 (baseball)
Elizabethton fought back in the later stages of the game, but were unable to complete the rally in a tough road loss at Jefferson County.
After the Patriots jumped out to a 6-2 lead after the second inning, EHS plated three runs in the top of the fourth to close within one run. Jefferson County added another run in the fifth, but EHS answered with a run in the seventh. However, Elizabethton was unable to bring the game-tying run across the plate in the final inning.
Evan Carter was 4-for-4 at the plate, while Evan Perkins and Karson Dillard had two hits apiece. Bryson Rollins and Jacob Mullins had a hit apiece.
Hampton 14, Providence Academy 8 (baseball)
The Bulldogs won their fifth game in the last eight outings in a non conference game on Thursday.
Josh Owens, Dalton Rouse and Mitchell Tolley each had a double, while Elijah Smith had a triple for the Bulldogs. As a pitching staff, Hampton combined for 10 strikeouts.

The Lady Warriors were unable to edge ahead of Sullivan Central in a pair of games.
In the first game of the day, the Lady Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and maintained the advantage until the fourth inning when the Lady Cougars scored five runs. After Central added two more runs in the top of the fifth, HV looked to rally by cutting the lead by four runs.
That, however, was as close as Happy Valley could get.
Olivia Absher and Macy Puckett had two hits apiece, while Laura Rice, Cierra Sutherland and Kadie Havner had one hit each.
Abby Holt allowed two earned runs on eight hits in just over three innings of work, while Absher had just over three innings of work as well while limiting Central to just one earned one run three hit.
In the second game, Sullivan Central scored 10 runs in the second inning and never looked back.
Maddie Lingerfelt and Taylor Ray had one hit apiece.
