The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Oakland High School Patriots 8-3 on the road Monday for their 14th loss of the season.
The Rebels led for most of the game, but a late offensive push by the Patriots led to their record moving down to .500 for the first time this season.
The Rebels got out to an early lead in the top of the first inning when Michael Stoltzfus drove in a run on a groundout.
The Rebels got additional runs in the second inning on RBI singles by JT Foster and Blake Pickett to make it 3-0.
The Patriots would be held off of the scoreboard until the bottom of the fifth when they put up five runs to flip the scoreboard. All five of the runs scored by Oakland in the fifth came with two outs in the frame.
The Patriots added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to increase the deficit for the Rebels.
The Rebels got a few runners on base in the final inning, but they weren’t able to push any runs across as they lost by five.
With the loss, the Rebels moved to 14-14 on the season.
They will next play Tuesday at home against Columbia Central High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
