Oakland Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch 'not planning to play football again,' per report

Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch plans to again retire from the NFL, according to a report from ESPN on Wednesday morning.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the Oakland native is "not planning to play football again" after spending the past two seasons with his hometown team. Lynch previously announced his retirement in 2016 before returning to the NFL the following year.

Best known among football fans as "Beast Mode," Lynch was drafted by the Buffalo Bills but spent the bulk of his career with the Seattle Seahawks, eclipsing 1,200 rushing yards in four consecutive seasons and becoming one of the league's most dominant running backs.

He ran for 891 yards and seven touchdowns after returning to the NFL in 2017 and got off to a stellar start last year before landing on injured reserve with a groin injury.

Lynch, who turned 33 earlier this week, became a free agent at the end of last season.
