The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Columbia Central Lions 4-2 at home Monday for their eighth loss of the season.
The Rebels hung around with the Lions for a majority of the contest, but they ran out of gas in the final few minutes.
The goals for Franklin County came off the feet of Jesus Roque and Justan Dominicio. Roque netted his fourth goal of the season while Dominicio got his first goal of the campaign in the contest.
Franklin County head soccer coach Kent Bean said that goalkeeper Roberto Jiminez made many key saves to keep them in the contest including a save on a well-hit penalty kick.
The game was tied at 2-2 with eight minutes remaining, but the Lions scored twice in those final eight minutes to give the Rebels a loss.
With the loss, the Rebels moved to 1-8-3 on the season and 1-6-1 in district play.
They will next play Thursday at home against Warren County High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
