Four Memphis high school basketball 2021 prospects in ESPN Top 60

ESPN released its latest high school basketball rankings on Wednesday, and Memphis is well represented in the Class of 2021.

Four local players are ranked in the top 60.

Here's who they are and what they accomplished in 2018-19:

Johnathan Lawson

Wooddale, So. 

Position: Forward

Ranking: 20th 

Height: 6-6

Accomplishments: The youngest of the four Lawson brothers teamed with older brother Chandler to bring Wooddale its first state title. The lanky, athletic forward finished one assist short of a triple-double in the Class AA semifinals and helped close out the title game with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Alden Applewhite is a sophomore at Lausanne Collegiate School

Lausanne, So. 

Position: Forward

Ranking: 42nd 

Height: 6-5

Accomplishments: Applewhite has picked up offers from Ole Miss and TCU. He made the all-district and all-region teams despite missing most of the season with injuries.

Position: Guard

Ranking: 43rd

Height: 6-0

Accomplishments: Chandler won the DII-AA Mr. Basketball award and was named MVP of the DII-AA state tournament as he led Briarcrest to an upset victory over four-time defending champion Brentwood Academy. He also participated in the USA Junior National Team minicamp earlier this month and picked up offers from Florida, Arizona State, and Georgia Tech.

Trezevant, So. 

Position: Guard

Ranking: 52nd

Height: 6-4

Accomplishments: After transferring to Trezevant from East, Brown put together an impressive sophomore campaign, averaging 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4.5 assists. His performance lifted the Bears above .500 for the first time since 2015.
