Summit High football coach Brian Coleman charged with DUI

A Williamson County high school football coach was released on bond after he was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with driving under the influence.

Summit football coach Brian Daniel Coleman was arrested in Marshall County and charged with a DUI, violation of implied consent and cited for driving on a roadway laned for traffic, an employee at the Marshall County jail confirmed to The Tennessean on Sunday. Coleman was booked on $2,000 bond. It had been posted by Sunday afternoon.

"We are aware of the situation and are looking into it," Williamson County Schools spokesman Carol Birdsong wrote in an email to The Tennessean.

Coleman did not immediately respond to a text message seeking comment.

Coleman has been at Summit the past five seasons. He was previously the coach at Forrest in 2013 in his lone season with the Rockets.

Coleman is 27-28 in five seasons at Summit, but 27-18 over the past four years. He has led the Spartans to three straight playoff appearances. Summit went 6-5 in 2018, falling to Beech in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.
