Covington's Kyle Ginn only took one at-bat during the state tournament, but his swing was good enough to get him on SportsCenter. ESPN's Scott Van Pelt featured the senior's home run in the Class AA state title game during his "Best Thing I Saw Today" segment.

Covington's Kyle Ginn, cries as he runs for home after hitting a two-run home run against Forrest during fourth inning of an TSSAA Class AA State Baseball Tournament championship game Friday, May 24, 2019, in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

"As they play in the state title game, he gets an at-bat. What do you think happened?" teased Van Pelt. "Well, he's not leading the show because he popped up. Go ahead Kyle. Have yourself a moment."

Then ESPN played the clip of Ginn's fourth inning home run during the Charger's 11-1 victory over Forrest. Covington was already up nine runs and decided to give the senior who tore his ACL during football season one last at bat to end his high school career.

"Kyle wrecked his knee and didn't play all year," Van Pelt said. "And then in the state title game he gets an at bat and you see the emotion from him and his teammates and sometimes, a lot of times, sports creates perfect moments."

The home run, which was also No. 3 in SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays, secured a run-rule victory for the Chargers, who won their first state title since 2006.
