Spring Fling 2019: Nashville area top performers from Day 4

MURFREESBORO — Another year of Spring Fling has come and gone. 

Friday served as the final day of the spring sports championships in Murfreesboro. 

Here were the top performers from Day 4: 

Softball

Brooke Sudduth, Cascade: Sudduth pitched a complete game, striking out 11 batters but Cascade lost 1-0 to Summertown in an elimination game. 

Elizabeth Woods, Summertown: Woods tossed a complete-game shutout in a 1-0 win over Cascade in an elimination game. 

Brittany Adair, Columbia Academy: Adair pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out six batters as Columbia Academy won the Class A state championship with a 3-0 win over Summertown. 

Kennedy Gillespie, Forrest: Gillespie hit the go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Forrest defeated Lexington 3-1 in the Class AA state championship game. 

Caitlyn McCrary, Siegel: McCrary went 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs and three RBIs as Siegel defeated Jefferson County 10-1 in an elimination game.

Tennis

Baylor Sai, MBA: Sai won the Division II-AA individual state championship by defeating McCallie's Will Leathers 2-0.

Donovan Janicek, Brentwood: Janicek won the Large Class Singles championship by defeating Central Magnet's Nathan Zou 2-0. 

Alex Torre and Georgia Fischer, Brentwood: Torre and Fischer won the Large Class Doubles championship by defeating Dobyns Bennett duo Lainey Hill and Sydney Berry 2-0. For Fischer, it is her fourth consecutive doubles state title. 

Hamsa Javagal, Brentwood: Javagal won the Large Class Singles championship by defeating Collierville's Romane Britt 2-1. 

Maggie Cannata, Ensworth: Cannata won the Division II-AA Singles championship by defeating Baylor's Landie McBrayer 2-1. 

Track and Field

Lester Shaw III, East Nashville: Shaw won the boys long jump state championship with a jump of 22-5.25 feet. 

Elijah Simmons, Pearl-Cohn: Simmons, a UT football signee, won the boys shot put with a distance of 53 feet. 

Demick Starling, East Nashville: Starling captured boys 400-meter dash with a time of 48.43 seconds. 

Alex Ponce, Merrol Hyde Academy: Ponce won the boys 3200-meter run with a time of 9:52.92 seconds. 

Pearl-Cohn: The Pearl-Cohn 4x400 relay team won the boys state title with a time of 3:22.299 seconds. 

Jayln Rice, East Nashville: Rice won the girls long jump title with a jump of 18-02 feet and also won the triple jump title with a jump of 38-03.5 feet.

Alayna Darrett, East Nashville: Darrett won the girls high jump with a jump of 5-02 feet. 

East Nashville: The East Nashville girls 4x100 relay title with a time of 48.28.
