KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Sullivan South’s Keith Parker is leaving the Rebel soccer programs after eight highly successful years.

On Thursday, Parker confirmed he had accepted a position as Assistant Principal at Happy Valley Middle School.

“It was a very tough decision to leave Sullivan County after eight years,” said Parker. “The past eight years have been enjoyable serving as a teacher and coach. I was very fortunate to coach for South. I was given a ton of support from the administration and other coaches.”

Parker coached the Lady Rebels for seven years before turning that program over to Luci Creech last fall although Parker remained as an assistant. He coached the Rebel boys for all eight years.

During his tenure, South soccer won two conference championships, finished as conference runner-up twice, earned four regional berths and made one state sectional appearance.

“We had a good run here and won several championships and my hope is that the program is in a good place,” continued Parker.

Parker said the chance to move into administration was the overriding factor for the move.

“I will miss the relationships that have been built with the players,” Parker added. “I told them that I wouldn’t be their coach anymore, but they would still receive my support. Having an opportunity to serve as an administrator has been a personal goal for myself and I’m excited to begin this new phase in my professional career.”
