Houston's Cara Young, an Arkansas soccer signee, has been named Gatorade Tennessee girls soccer player of the year.

Cara Young is a senior at Houston High School.

The Commercial Appeal girls' soccer player of the year scored 16 goals and had 14 assists as a forward for the state champion Lady Mustangs.

She scored the only goal in Houston's 1-0 victory over Collierville in the Class AAA state title game. Houston finished 21-2 on the season.

It's the second year in a row that the award has been won by a player from Houston. Jenna Kemp, a midfielder who signed with Ole Miss, was last year's Gatorade Tennessee player of the year.
