Top 5 returning Memphis-area high school football wide receivers

It's time to take a look at the top returning high school football players for next season.

This is the third in a series highlighting five local players to watch at linebacker, defensive back, defensive lineman, offensive lineman, wide receiver, running back and quarterback.

Here are five wide receivers to keep an eye on in 2019. Offers and rankings are according to 247Sports unless otherwise noted.

Darin Turner

Central, Sr. 

Ht: 6-foot-3 Wt: 205 pounds

Offers: Alabama, Miami, Clemson, Georgia, Oregon 

Why chosen: Turner, the state's No. 7 prospect, is the only four-star receiver in the Memphis area. The second team 8-6A all-region selection decommitted from LSU in March. His top five schools are Alabama, Miami, Clemson, Georgia and Oregon. He helped lead Central to the second round of the Class 6A playoffs. 

Isaac Smith

St. George's, Sr. 

Ht: 6-3 Wt: 185

Offers: Army, Navy, Cornell, Tennessee State, Southeast Missouri (offers are according to his Twitter account)

Why chosen: The first-team all-district selection caught 44 passes for 777 yards and five touchdowns for St. George's, which made the DII-AA quarterfinals. 

Reggie Neely

Briarcrest, Sr. 

Ht: 6-1 Wt: 175

Offers: Duke, Memphis, UAB, Southern Miss, Western Kentucky

Why chosen: Neely had 995 all-purpose yards, including 597 receiving yards. The three-star prospect also caught nine touchdowns and intercepted three passes, helping lead Briarcrest to the DII-AAA quarterfinals.

Grayson Hitt

Houston, Sr. 

Ht: 6-3 Wt: 175

Offers: None.

Why chosen: The Region 7-6A first-team selection caught nine touchdowns for Houston, which made the second round of the Class 6A playoffs.  

Devin Chandler

Ht: 5-10 Wt: 162

Offers: Kent State, North Alabama, North Carolina Central (according to his Twitter)

Why chosen: Chandler made the Region 7-6A first team. He also was state runner-up in the 110 meter hurdles in track and field.
