Nashville area top high school football defensive backs returning in 2019

With high school football teams participating in summer workouts, here is a look at the top 15 Nashville area defensive backs for 2019.

Amir Annoor, Brentwood Academy, Jr. Anoor had 22 tackles with an interception and two breakups. He also recovered a fumble.

Briston Bennett, BGA, Sr. Bennett, a three-star prospect and No. 49 recruit in Tennessee, according to the 247Sports Composite, recorded 34 tackles with nine pass breakups for the Wildcats. His offers include Charlotte, Louisville and Memphis.

Shane Craig, Ravenwood, Sr. Craig had five interceptions with 15 tackles as a junior.

Jackson Eskew, Friendship Christian, Sr. Eskew picked off eight passes and recorded 45 tackles while forcing a fumble and recovering two. He also had nine pass deflections.

Dajeun Gibson, Blackman, Sr. Gibson, a three-star prospect and No. 37 recruit in the state, according to the 247Sports Composite,  had 30 tackles while intercepting two passes, forcing a fumble and recovering one. His offers include Arkansas, Memphis, Ole Miss and South Carolina.

Trevor Griffin, Eagleville, Sr. Griffin picked off nine passes in 2018 for the Eagles.

Malique Johnson, Stratford, Sr. Johnson recorded 60 tackles with five interceptions and blocked two kicks.

Jahdell LeeQuay, Columbia Academy, Sr. LeeQuay had 71 tackles, caused a fumble and recovered one.

Aaron Lovins, Brentwood Academy, Sr. Lovins had 47 tackles with 5.5 for loss. He had seven pass breakups and an interception.

De'Arre McDonald, Oakland, Sr. The four-star prospect recorded six interceptions for the Class 6A state champions in 2018.

Devin Palmer, Mt. Juliet, Sr. Palmer had 30 tackles with two interceptions and seven pass breakups. He also recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown.

Andrew Sinclair-Whitely, CPA, Sr. Sinclair-Whitely had 35 tackles had two interceptions, caused a fumble and blocked a field goal. He started six of the Lions' last seven games.

Jamarion Thomas, Mt. Juliet Christian, So. Thomas had 71 tackles with three interceptions as a freshman.

Dewayne Trotter, Pearl-Cohn, Jr. Trotter had 29 tackles and picked off three passes in 2018.

Andre Turrentine, Ensworth, Jr. Turrentine made 59 tackles, including 4.5 for loss. He also had four pass break ups and two interceptions. His offers include Alabama, Florida LSU and Tennessee.
