ASHLAND CITY – After Eric Hatley’s surprising resignation as the Cheatham County football coach the Cubs have turned to Dwayne Daniel to lead the program on an interim basis.
Daniel has been the team’s wide receivers and defensive backs coach and had previous coaching stops at a few different schools in Dickson County.
“Building a program is like a rocket,” Daniel said. “All of the work is done before the rocket takes off. We’ve got to do a good job with player development and then we can take off and do great things. That’s how to be great.”
Daniel takes over a team that went 4-7 last season and lost to a very strong Pearl-Cohn team in the first round of the playoffs. The Cubs will look to several returning players like QB/LB Bryson Entrikin, TE/DE Zach Kessler, OT/DT Xavier Smith and RB/DB Dawson Primm to lead the team this season.
