Tennessee State commitment Marcus Fitzgerald Jr., a key piece to Brentwood Academy's Division II-AA boys basketball 2019 state runner-up team, has transferred.

Fitzgerald has left the Williamson County private school and is now enrolled at Pearl-Cohn in Nashville, his father, Marcus Fitzgerald Sr., told The Tennessean.

The younger Fitzgerald has been granted a hardship by the TSSAA and is eligible to play for his senior season.

"He was in good standing at Brentwood Academy," Marcus Fitzgerald Sr. said. "It's a great education. Everything was fine there."

Marcus Fitzgerald Jr., the No. 8 prospect in Tennessee according to 247Sports, averaged 17.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in his first full season at Brentwood Academy.

Pearl-Cohn reached its first TSSAA boys basketball state tournament in 21 years this past season when first-year coach Terry Cole led the Firebirds to the Class AA state quarterfinals.
