Arlington's Williams, St. Benedict's Williamson named Commercial Appeal athletes of the week

Arlington's Jackson Williams and St. Benedict's Aliyah Williamson are The Commercial Appeal athletes of the week. 

Williams broke the school record for the 5K at the City Auto Twilight Classic, finishing in 15:38. He helped the Arlington boys cross country team finish fourth.

Williams received 1,012 of this week's 1,835 votes. White Station quarterback Dwight Holmes III, who threw for 216 yards and scored four touchdowns, finished second with 544 votes. 

Williamson scored a hat trick in a win over Madison Academy. She received 572 of the 1,254 votes. Briarcrest Christian's Loren Robertson, who had 47 assists in a win over Houston, finished second with 501 votes. 

Williams and Williamson will be invited to the year's Commercial Appeal Sports Awards, presented by Farm Bureau Health Plans. The date has not been set for the 2020 event, which features the top high school athletes in the Memphis area.
