Clarksville area Week 4 roundup: Central hands Vikings first loss

Montgomery Central gave Northwest its first loss of the season with a 14-7 victory Friday night.

Central held a 7-0 lead when LaKendriez Sanders ran in from 35 yards out in the second quarter. That score held until the third period when the Vikings' Robert Baker caught a touchdown pass from J.D. Redden to tie the game.

Central (3-1) would regain the lead in the fourth quarter when Sanders scored from a yard out. Northwest's attempt to force overtime came up short when the Indians' Timmy Campbell picked off a pass at the 5-yard line to seal the win.

Clarksville High 45, Rockvale 10: Quantae Hicks had a punt return for a touchdown and caught a 57 yard touchdown pass as CHS (2-2) snapped a two-game losing streak Friday night on the road. Freshman quarterback Davin Garinger also threw for two scores while Michael Kennedy added a 53-yard touchdown run.

West Creek 18, Cheatham County 17: West Creek got back in the win column, beating Cheatham County Friday. The victory ends a two-game slide for the Coyotes. Yahsir Thomas scored two rushing touchdown and Walter Batey scored a TD as West Creek improved to 2-2.  

Rossview 17, Northeast 6: Gabe Sibert threw two touchdowns and Rossview kicked a field goal, all in the first half to hold off Northeast Friday. Sibert threw a 25-yard score to Aaron Bolster and a 20-yard TD to Sam Harding. A 25-yard field goal as time expired at halftime was all the Hawks (2-2) needed. Northeast remains winless at 0-4.

Hillsboro 49, Kenwood 6: Hillsboro rolled to a win Friday to drop Kenwood to 1-3 on the season. Corbin Howard caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Jaylen Washington, but Kenwood had four turnovers with three coming in the red zone. 

Houston County 35, Jo Byrns 14: Houston County had two runners eclipse 100 yards Friday, led by Reece Jones who ran 19 times for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Noah Black added 102 yards and a score on 16 carries as the Irish remain perfect at 4-0.

Jackson Christian 32, Clarksville Academy 28: Clarksville Academy lost its second straight game, falling to Jackson Christian in a Division II, Class A, West Region game Friday. The loss dropped the Cougars to 2-2 and 0-2 in region play.

Stewart County 40, East Hickman 0: Stewart County recorded the program's first shutout since Week 1 of the 2012 season, knocking off East Hickman Friday.The Rebels ran their record to 3-1.
