SPARTANBURG, SC -- Science Hill sophomore Jenna Hutchins made it 2-for-2 on the season with an eye-popping 17:14.10 to win the Eye Opener at the Roger Milliken Center on Saturday morning.

Hutchins' time was a personal-best and broke the meet and course record of 18:12 set by Spartanburg Christian Academy’s Logan Morris by nearly a minute.

“I think it went really well,” said Hutchins. “I’m trying to improve on keeping my last mile consistent with the others, and I think I did that. It was nice having people with me at the beginning, but as the race goes on and you’re more by yourself it gets hard.”

Hutchins day was part of a solid effort from the Science Hill teams. Hutchins fourth place finish propelled the Lady ‘Toppers to a fourth-place team finish. Trinny Duncan finished 12th in 20:20 with Destiny Haller in 21st at 20:43.

The Science Hill boys placed 14th overall with Aaron Jones crossing in sixth at 16:06. Ray Richardson ran a solid 16:47 to place 21st.
