Here are the five takeaways from Week 6 of the high school football season.

Brentwood Academy wins No. 500

It was a milestone night for Division II powerhouse Brentwood Academy.

The Eagles won the program's 500th game, routing West Toronto Prep (Canada) 40-0 at Carlton Flatt Field.

MBA leads the Nashville area with 758 wins, according to MaxPreps. Maryville is the state leader with 802.

Sophomore running back Jordan James had 15 carries for 198 yards with four touchdowns to lead Brentwood Academy (5-1), which has won three straight heading into the Eagles' ESPN2 game on Thursday at Knoxville Catholic.

Tayler Montiel was 7-of-13 passing for 127 yards in place of injured quarterback Wade Williams.

MBA, Marcel Reed win second straight

Marcel Reed threw touchdown passes to Lucien Brunetti and Noah Mendoza to lead MBA to a 24-14 win over rival Ensworth.

Reed, the son of Tennessee State football coach Rod Reed, was making his second straight start. The Big Red (3-2) gave Memphis University School its first loss of the season a week prior. For Ensworth, the loss was the second straight after a 4-0 start under first-year coach Roc Batten.

Reed was 9-of-11 passing for 97 yards. He also had 14 carries for 50 yards. Brunetti, who is the son of Pearl-Cohn coach Tony Brunetti, reeled in a 37-yard TD pass to give the Big Red a 17-14 halftime lead. MBA never trailed again.

Franklin makes personnel adjustment

Joshua Nichols is back at quarterback for Franklin after starting the season as a receiver. Nichols was the Rebels' 2018 quarterback, but gave way to Guy Lipscomb this season to give Lipscomb a chance to make more plays with the football.

Lipscomb moved back to running back and ran for 168 yards and two scores in a 38-20 win over McGavock.

"We believe (Lipscomb) is our best athlete," Franklin coach Donnie Webb said. "From the get-go, we've wanted to get it in his hands."

By moving him to running back, it allowed the Rebels to be more balanced. Nichols was 9-of-16 passing for 172 yards.

"I'm proud of Josh for hanging in there with us," Webb said. "Our philosophy hasn't changed. We still want to run the ball and get it in Guy's hands."

Franklin (2-4, 0-2 6-6A) plays at Centennial (3-3, 1-2) Friday in a game with playoff implications on the line.

Gallatin rolls despite Briggs' down night

Wilson Central became the first opponent to hold Spencer Briggs under 100 yards rushing.

Instead, Gallatin won with defense.

Briggs had 85 yards on 26 carries in the Green Wave's 16-0 win over Wilson Central. Teammate Isaiah Briscoe was 9-of-13 passing for 135 yards.

Wilson Central was held to 62 total yards and has been outscored 48-17 the past two weeks in losses to Mt. Juliet and Gallatin after starting the season 4-0.

Independence wins fifth straight

Ethan Cash failed to throw for 300 yards for a third consecutive week, but Independence won its fifth straight game, beating Hendersonville 31-24.

Cash was 15-of-23 passing for 162 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He's now thrown for 1,374 yards. Independence has been perfect since a Week 1 loss to Summit.

The Eagles (5-1) next host Brentwood (5-1) in a battle of Region 6-6A co-leaders at 2-0.
