Tennessean Midstate high school football top-10 rankings after Week 9

Here's a look at the top 10 high school football teams in Middle Tennessee, as ranked by the USA Today Sports Network. 

1. Oakland (8-0) – The Patriots defeated Riverdale 31-14 for their eighth straight win over the Warriors and extended their win streak to 21. Last week: No. 1. This week: at Coffee Co.

2. Pearl-Cohn (8-0) – The Firebirds walloped Whites Creek 56-0 and now have outscored their Region 5-3A foes 113-6. Last week: No. 2. This week: at Independence.

3. Brentwood (7-1) – The Bruins locked up the top seed from Region 6-6A for the Class 6A playoffs with a 33-7 win over Franklin. Last week: No. 3. This week: vs. Knoxville Catholic.

4. Ravenwood (7-1) – Rice commitment Andrew Mason had three catches for 108 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 38-0 win over Smyrna. Last week: No. 4. This week: vs. Cane Ridge.

5. Gallatin (8-0) – The Green Wave defeated Hendersonville 27-8 and are off to their best start since 2006 when they went 10-1. Last week: No. 5. This week: at Beech.

6. Beech (8-0) – The Buccaneers ran for 347 yards on 38 carries in a 55-7 rout of Station Camp. Last week: No. 6. This week: vs. Gallatin.

7. Henry Co. (6-2) – The Patriots running back trio of Donte Davis, Jayln Foster and Jermarcus Johnson all have rushed for more than 400 yards this season. Last week: No. 7. This week: vs. Northeast.

8. Cane Ridge (6-2) – Ty’Roid Good’s three touchdowns led the Ravens to a 42-13 win over Hillsboro for their sixth straight win. Last week: No. 8. This week: at Ravenwood.

9. MBA (5-3) – The Big Red are currently tied for second in the Division II-AAA West Region standings. Last week: No. 9. This week: at Baylor.

10. Nolensville (8-0) – Nose guard Dan Rickert blocked a punt for a touchdown and returned an interception for a score in a 23-10 win over Maplewood. Last week: Not ranked. This week: at Franklin.
