Central wide receivers Eunique Valentine and Isaiah Osborne will not play Friday against South-Doyle after their ejections against Carter last week.

The TSSAA denied the school's appeal regarding Valentine but did not receive an appeal regarding Osborne's ejection, according to a TSSAA spokesperson.

Valentine was ejected in the third quarter of Central's 30-10 win over Carter as a result of his second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Osborne was ejected in the fourth quarter for the same reason.

On Monday, Central coach Bryson Rosser said the school would appeal the ejection of both players. Rosser and Central athletic director JD Lambert did not immediately respond to questions Thursday morning.

Osborne is the team leader in receiving yards (372) and second in receiving touchdowns (five). Valentine is second on the team with sacks with 4.5. Central (8-0, 4-0) has won 21 straight games heading into the game with South-Doyle (6-2, 4-1 2-5A) .

Carter appeal granted

Carter's Scott Meadows will coach against Gibbs on Friday after the TSSAA granted the school's appeal over his ejection against Central.

Meadows was ejected with 1:36 left as a result of his second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

The appeal was granted because of a misapplication of the rule, said TSSAA assistant executive director Gene Menees. Game officials called an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on a Carter assistant coach but applied the penalty to Meadows.

The TSSAA officials report from the game said Carter's third sideline warning was charged as an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to Meadows.

According to TSSAA bylaws, any player or coach ejected from a game also must miss the next game.

Carter also will not have to pay a $250 fine.
