Tyner's football team has left a sizeable mark on scoreboards this season, producing at least 30 points in each of its wins.
The Rams continued their trend Thursday night in a 49-6 victory at Brainerd.
Six days after beating Bell Buckle Webb 67-18, the Rams (6-3) scored on seven of their nine possessions against the Panthers (0-9) and totaled 312 yards from scrimmage as quarterback Martavius Ryals accounted for five touchdowns in a cross-classification matchup moved ahead a day due to the threat of inclement weather.
"Martavius Ryals does an excellent job of running our offense. He's a true-definition gamer," said coach Wayne Turner, whose Rams won back-to-back games for the first time since starting 2-0. "We were back to being explosive offensively like we're capable of being, and defensively we did a good job of keeping Brainerd in check all night long."
After both teams threw interceptions on their opening possessions, Tyner struck first on the scoreboard with a 68-yard touchdown run by Kamden Edwards. From there, the Rams rattled off five straight touchdowns for a 49-0 lead going into halftime.
With the mercy rule in effect and the clock running, Brainerd scored first in the second half on a 37-yard pass from Xiyeer Lattimore to Erian Pinkerton. Right after that, Tyner's Ryals found Jeremiah Batiste, who has committed to Miami (Ohio), for a 5-yard pass and the game's final touchdown.
Brainerd completes its Region 3-3A schedule and its season next week at McMinn Central.
Tyner will have a chance to finish undefeated in Region 3-AA for the third straight year when it hosts Polk County next week in a regular-season finale.
"It means a lot for us to win next week and keep the streak going," Ryals said. "It can make the difference on whether you play at home or not in the playoffs, so we know how important a win next week is."
