Clarksville outscored Munford 16-7 in the second half with all 16 points coming in the final 10:44 of the game to earn a 29-28 Class 5A first-round playoff victory at Munford High School Friday night.

The win avenges a 42-14 loss to Munford in the first round of the 2017 playoffs and is the Wildcats' first playoff victory since 2010 against Springfield.

Clarksville (7-4) will travel to face Region 7-5A rival Henry County (9-2) in the second round next week. The Patriots beat Memphis Ridgeway 10-6 Friday. This will mark the first time the two schools have met the playoffs.

Zach Langford drilled a 19-yard field goal with 1:46 left in the game that gave the Wildcats the lead for good as it rallied for the win. Last year, CHS' playoff rally came up one-point short to Southwind, 28-27.

Starting quarterback Colby Cook played the first three quarters and led Clarksville to two touchdowns but Munford held a 21-13 lead at halftime and looked poise to advance with a 28-13 advantage with 10:44 left in the game.

But backup quarterback Davin Garinger threw touchdown passes to Quantae Hicks and Michael Kenndy in the fourth quarter to get the Wildcats within 28-26.

Southwind 55, Kenwood 13: Kenwood traveled to Memphis and had an offense that produced more than 200 yards but the Knights' couldn't hold Southwind as the Jaguars advanced in the Class 5A playoffs.

Kenwood (2-9) got a 13-yard touchdown run from quarterback Jaylen Washington in the first quarter and got a 70-yard touchdown run from Zyon Moore in the fourth. The Knights got inside the 10-yard line three other times against Southwind but came away with no points and two costly turnovers.

Southwind (7-4) advanced to face Dyer County (9-2) in the second round next week. Dyer beat Kirby 32-10 Friday.

Mayfield 56, Fort Campbell 13: The Falcons' season came to an end in the Kentucky Class AA playoffs. It's the second time in the past month that Fort Campbell (1-10) has lost to No. 1-ranked Mayfield (10-1).

The Falcons' Connor Brinkmeyer ran 12 times for 116 yards. His 98-yard touchdown run is the longest TD run since 1984. Quarterback Matt Middleton was 11-of-24 for 140 yards and an interception while Jordan Edwards finished with six catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.
