Hornets drop home contest versus Ardmore

The teams traded the lead several times late in the first quarter with the Tigers ending the period with a slight lead.

The Hornets trailed 17-16 after one quarter.

The Tigers opened the second quarter with a 9-3 run to create more separation on the scoreboard.

The Hornets trailed 30-25 at halftime.

The contest began to slip away from the Hornets in the third quarter as they were not able to match the scoring pace set by the Tigers.

They trailed 49-35 going into the final period.

The deficit remained at double digits for the entire fourth quarter as the Hornets couldn’t make up much ground before losing by 15 points.

Colton Ray led the Hornets with 13 points for the game, followed by Garrett Jernigan with 12 points and Dylan Schultz with 10.

Eli Stevenson scored six points, Bryson Johnson scored four, Kaleb Stovall scored three, Will Jolley scored two and Noah Thompson scored one.

With the loss, the Hornets moved to 3-11 on the season.

They will next play Tuesday at home against Richland High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
