Fourth annual Commercial Appeal Sports Awards set for May 13 at the Orpheum Theatre

The fourth annual Commercial Appeal Sports Awards presented by Farm Bureau Health Plans is set for May 13 at the Orpheum Theatre. The event, called the best night in high school sports, highlights the top high school athletes from the Memphis area. 

A guest speaker will be announced at a later date. Chicago Bears wide receiver and former Memphis star Anthony Miller was the guest speaker in 2019. Pro Bowl running back DeAngelo Williams was the guest speaker in 2018. 

The event also will recognize winners for several premier awards, including coach of the year, male and female athletes of the year, a lifetime achievement award, a courage award, a leadership award, team of the year, a top-team fan vote, a Special Olympics Award and an I AM SPORT award. 

The I AM SPORT award honors an athlete who is committed to giving back to his or her community.
