West Carroll, Huntingdon Split in Basketball

HUNTINGDON (January 7) — West Carroll boys and Huntingdon girls were victors in basketball action on Tuesday, January 7 at Huntingdon High School. Huntingdon Fillies earned a 53 to 34 victory, while the West Carroll War Eagles claimed a 51 to 46 victory over the Mustangs.
In the opening contest, Huntingdon Fillies jumped to an early lead claiming a 15 to 3 advantage in the first quarter. The Fillies repeated with 15 in the second quarter, 14 in the third, and 9 in the fourth for a total of 53 in the contest. Brooke Butler led the scoring with 19 points, including three 3s. Brooklyn Williams and Adyn Swenson each added 8, Tyasia Reed and Addison Postlehwart added 7, and Kaci Fuller added 4.
West Carroll Lady Eagles scored 3 in the first, 12 in the second, 2 in the third, and 17 in the fourth. They were led by Denver Brooks with 7, followed by Amaya Thompson and Macey Cunningham with 6, Alyssa Butler with 5, Mia Jones with 4, and Tatyon Keymn and Gracie Cunningham with 3.

In the nightcap, West Carroll War Eagles led the scoring until three minutes remaining in the contest when Huntingdon tied the score at 42. West Carroll regained the lead and earned a 51-46 victory.
West Carroll scored 12 in the first, 11 in the second, 12 and 16 in the third and fourth periods. Scoring was led by Josh Clark with 16, Jalen Anglin had 13, Tyler Johnson had 7, Jeremiah Bryant 6, Luke Moore 5, and Jed Robinson and Jack Barrow each had 2.
Huntingdon scored 4 in the first, 16, 10 and 16 in the final three quarters. The team was led by Drake Butler with 14, Brandon Lawton with 10, Grant Bartholomew with 9, Ben Taylor and Nik Bynum each had 5, and Kyrien Jordan had 1.
