Orentheus Taylor confirmed on Friday that he has been hired as Westwood's football coach.

Taylor spent the last three years in Jackson coaching Liberty Tech where his record was 5-24.

"I'm just excited about the opportunity to build up young men," Taylor said. "Westwood has a rich history and strong alumni and I'm looking forward to working hand in hand with the administration."

Taylor was an assistant on the 2016 Trezevant team that won the Class 2A state title and was named head coach in 2017 but left for Liberty Tech before he coached a game.

He replaces Fred Copeland, who was 9-12 over two seasons. The Longhorns were 4-6 last season.
