Maryville wide receiver AJ Davis commits to UAB

Maryville wide receiver AJ Davis, who led the Rebels in receptions and receiving yards, committed to UAB. He made the announcement Saturday night via Twitter.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Davis is a three-star recruit and the No. 45 prospect in the state, according to the 247Sports Composite. 

Davis will be reunited with former teammate Dylan Hopkins, a backup quarterback at  UAB who will be a junior. Davis and Hopkins won a state championship together in 2017. 

Davis also had offers from Central Michigan, Indiana, Western Carolina, Western Kentucky and Chattanooga, according to 247Sports.com. 

Davis was named Player of the Year in Region 2-6A. He recorded 53 receptions for 818 receiving yards and 12 receiving touchdowns. He helped the Rebels go 15-0 and win the Class 6A state championship against Ravenwood.
