The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Coffee County Lady Raiders 57-50 at Lincoln County High School Friday in the semifinals of their district tournament.
The Rebelettes gave the top-seeded Lady Raiders one of their closest district games of the year, but they were not able to pull off the upset.
The Lady Raiders got off to a fast start with five 3-pointers and 23 total points in the opening period to put the Rebelettes in a double-digit hole.
They trailed 23-10 after one quarter.
The Rebelettes were able to chip away at the deficit slightly in the second quarter as they began to slow the Lady Raiders down. Ashtin Holman scored 10 of Franklin County’s 14 points in the second quarter.
They trailed 33-24 at halftime.
The deficit would be fairly steady throughout the third quarter with the Rebelettes not making up any ground.
They trailed 45-35 going into the final period.
The Rebelettes closed out the game with their best offensive period of the night, but it would not be enough as they lost by seven points.
Holman led the Rebelettes with 23 points for the game, followed by Macy Pittenger with 16 points and Heidi Seay with four.
Angela Tarrant scored three points, and Madisyn Partin and Rylan Wolkonowski scored two points each.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 9-16 on the season.
They will next play Saturday against Lawrence County High School at Lincoln County in the third-place game for their district tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
