WAYNESBORO (March 2) — The McKenzie Lady Rebels saw their season come to an end Monday with a 77-41 loss to the Loretto Lady Mustangs in the Region 6A Girls Basketball Semifinals at Wayne County High School.
The Lady Mustangs jumped out to a 19-5 lead after the opening frame, led by Raven Chance with seven points. Victoria Chadwell and Kensey Weathers each scored four, and Mimi McBee and Karly Weathers each had a pair. Lady Rebels Shelby Davis hit a three-pointer, and Lilly Bennett had a pair.
Loretto had a 23-15 advantage in the second quarter, led by Karly W. with eight points, including a pair of threes. Kensey W. scored six, and Autumn Buttrum had five points with a three. Chadwell and Chance each added a pair. Bennett led McKenzie with seven points. Davis and Anna Callahan each scored three, and Kylie Reynolds had a pair. At the half, Loretto led 42-20.
