The eight members of the Commercial Appeal All-Metro first team are nominees for girls basketball player of the year. 

First team

Se'Quoia Allmond is a junior at Whitehaven

Se'Quoia Allmond

Whitehaven, Jr. 

Position: Guard

Why chosen: Allmond led Whitehaven to its first state tournament appearance and averaged a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists.

Tashun Bryson is a senior at Mitchell

Position: Forward

Why chosen: Bryson led Shelby County with 22.1 points per game and led Mitchell to the Region 8-AA semifinals. 

Endya Buford, Olive Branch High School - Basketball 11th

Position: Guard

Why chosen: The Memphis signee averaged 23.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 8.3 assists. She scored 40 points in the MHSAA Class 6A state title game in a 75-51 win over Clinton. 

Carmyn Harrison is a junior at Hutchison

Position: Forward

Why chosen: The No. 45 junior in the nation according to ESPN averaged 11 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four blocks. 

Serena Lee is a sophomore at Whitehaven

Position: Forward

Why chosen: Lee averaged 18 points and two steals for Whitehaven, which reached the Class AAA semifinals. 

Christina Nichols is a senior at Arlington

Position: Guard

Why chosen: The St. Francis signee was District 14-AAA player of the year and averaged 11 points and five rebounds. 

Carmen Taylor is a senior at Arlington

Arlington, Jr. 

Position: Guard

Why chosen: The Region 7-AAA tournament MVP averaged 14 points and four rebounds for Arlington, which reached the Class AAA semifinals.
