All members of the 2020 Knox News All-PrepXtra girls basketball first team are nominees for the girls basketball player of the year.

Makayla Alvey, Jefferson County

Position: Guard

Why chosen: Alvey, who is 5-10, was named the District 2-AAA MVP. She averaged 12 points, six rebounds, 3.4 assists and 4.7 steals.

Position: Forward

Why chosen: The 5-10 American University signee averaged 15.3 points and eight rebounds and led Gatlinburg-Pittman to the Class AA state tournament.
